The cats love peanuts.  Especially maddy.  Peanuts drive her quite crazy... i can't have any nearby without her demanding her share.

      Seriously!

The minute i open up a container of peanuts.. shelled, unshelled ... she's right there.  And losing her mind.  She wants one.. NOW.  So of course we oblige.

Sometimes she bats the peanut around the room.  Most times she eats it, and comes back for more. Every time i just get more baffled.  Cats are not supposed to be this social.

Of course, the resident mice agree with me.  Especially since maddy has discovered exactly where the mouse hole is... and if she were a cartoon, she'd be armed with a sledge hammer and smashing the hole.

But she is not a cartoon .. which means she is still attacking the old plug in our "used to be" kitchen, determined she is going to get-that-mouse!

molly just goes along.  Fun by default is okay with her.  maddy, on the other hand, is determined to rip out every inch of this house to catch her prey.  Why again, did we not get them declawed?

And now.. just for sport.. she's tearing into the peanuts... and their shells.

Should we place bets on mouse fate?  Let's put that kitty into some leather ...
