October 25,  2004

Okay, so i took a "longer than i should have" break.  It's nearly embarrassing - and really would be if it weren't for the fact that i hit the wall on just about everything.  Work, writing, art ... just thinking was an effort by the time the first of October rolled around.  Too many changes!

So i have a new boss - one that i think i'm going to get along with reasonably well, but is a tad cagey and sly.  This boy knows how to climb the corporate ladder.  If you are on his good side, you survive.  Otherwise....

They've totally dismantled my job, as i (and everyone else) knew it to be.  This of course caused me a few anxious moments - until i got back from vacation and they started piling on some of the new responsibilities.  Ouch.  But i won't have a chance to be bored for awhile.  This is a good thing.  And apparently i'm getting a fancy new title - they've yet to share any firm details on salary.  That part could get tricky as, since i've been there, i've been increased more than the regular employee.  HR has issues with this.  i should know more details in a few weeks.

The "treadmill" sped up during all this time and i have to say when vacation finally arrived i couldn't leave fast enough!  And what a vacation!  Himself and i spent two GLORIOUS weeks in France - mostly recuperating in an old stone farmhouse about an hour outside of Paris, with our friends who live there.

Food, wine, sleep. Repeat. Repeat.  It was perfect.  I'm a tad rounder.  Himself of course isn't.

We both wish we were still there. This past Thursday evening Himself picked me up from my dental appointment and we drove around trying to find somewhere to eat out. Nothing appealed and he said he wanted to go back to that "restaurant in France" (meaning the home where we stayed).  i replied; "Sorry sweetie; it's closed for the season."  He sighed.

We did the next best thing ... went home and made an omelet and drank French wine.
