November 28,  2004

So it's official.  The fancy new title includes "Senior".  And they let the final member of my old team go.  i'm the lone survivor.  Much weirdness ensues.  Including a ton of unpaid-for overtime.  To his credit however, the new boss is pretty generous about letting us take the occasional day off as time in lieu.  And he works MUCH longer hours than the rest of his team.  i do respect his work ethic.

As for the rest of my life ... it's business as usual.  Get up, go to work, come home, eat Himself's food, have some wine and conversation, snuggle and bed.  Repeat.  It's all good.

And i think i'm getting back into the swing of art again.  Yes!  Yesterday i spent my first all-day session at a little off-site gallery.  my time spent painting totaled about 6 hours - but i was so into it that i forgot to take a potty break!  (i know, i know - tmi)

But i really feel like i'm starting to get somewhere.  i've discovered that while i can't for the life of me blend a decent skin tone on the palette, i can do it instead directly on the canvas.  Layering colours on top of each other until i get what i think i should see seems to be the answer.  Perfect.

So yesterday i worked on this seated woman i'm trying to do - her back is to us.  And at first the skin was coming out as a brown girl - but as i worked it all started coming together and back to a white chick.  Then i stood back and looked.

Wham!  i think my jaw hit the ground - and i called out to the lady who owns the shop to come look.  Not only had i gotten the skin tone, but i'd also made her look like i could reach out and touch real flesh.  It's so exciting!

Now that i think of it, it's been that kind of weekend.  After some good food, wee bit of wine and watching a high- packed action movie on my new computer (yay!), Himself and i crawled into bed around 1 a.m. Friday night.

He had a little arsenal of toys hidden and ready.  Yowza!  We've been so busy that this hasn't happened in awhile.  i think He decided to make up for lost time - there was much flailing of bungee floggers and other stingy things, and me squirming around.  Perfect.

Then sleep.  Then repeat.  Yum.  Float.

Hmm.  Maybe that's why my painting day went so well.
