Oh look! Two posts in one week?  Could it be i'm getting some momentum back?

So i finished with the proverbial doctor appointments.  And managed to come out relatively unscathed.  Well, except for the dreaded mammogram and ultra sound test on Monday, which i still haven't figured out how i'm getting to yet, and i have to miss work for.  But this is definitely not something i can skip, since one of the 'girls' is still aching from 'something'.  Enough to wake me up in the middle of the night if i roll over to the wrong side.

i'm pretty confident that i know what the problem is.  What i'm not so confident about is how they will handle it.  If i were back with my old doctor, he'd simply practice a little bit of unconsentual needle play and badda, bing, problems all gone.  The last time he sent me to a specialist however, and the specialist decided that it was the other 'girl' instead of the one he was supposed to examine, and we had a bloody war over whether he was sticking a needle in the wrong one or not.  Of course i won.  Heh.  And the problem side had corrected itself anyway.

The rest of me is pretty healthy though.  Weight is nicely settled completely on my hips and tummy (typical for my age) at 133 lbs.  Apparently this is a good weight for my height and (again) age but lordy do i miss my 115 lb. days!  my blood pressure is 110 over 70 and i still have most of my teeth.  Well at least for another week or so - two of them have decided i shouldn't eat any hot or cold foods these days.  Makes dinner time a challenge, especially since they are on opposite sides of my mouth.

And then of course there was the lecture.

"Do you smoke?"  No.  A nod of approval.

"Do you exercise?"  Who has time?  A slight smile and more scribbled notes.

     "Alcohol?"

Sigh.  "More than i should." i replied.

That got her attention.  "How much?"  Heh.  Now that's the question isn't it?  Do i tell her about the weekends when a friend and i can polish off two bottles of wine without the blink of an eye?  Or just admit to having a glass or two with dinner during the week.  i opted for the truth.  Then quickly tossed in that Himself has given up the evil demon drink for lent.  Didn't save me.

i was subjected to the lecture.  How alcohol is good for your heart - in moderation.  And moderation for women equals 7 drinks per week.  Not a drop more, and less is better thank you very much.  So the weekend indulgences pretty much kill the rest of the availability.

Men on the other hand, can have up to 14 drinks.  Totally not fair.  None of it's really fair.  i mean after all, what's better with a hearty and tender steak than a nice full-bodied glass of red wine?

     Sigh.

i ask again - i'm supposed to be enjoying this time of my life ... why?
