January 5,  2003

     Yesterday was perfect.

Himself promised me a day of just Him and i kicking around together before i have to return to work.  Yesterday was it.

i actually started the day by sleeping in until almost 10!  i rarely do that, but i was on the futon again - away from the snoring beastie *g* - so that probably helped.  i did crawl right back into our bed when i woke up however.  There's nothing better than an early morning romp to start the day off right. Yum.

i fixed us a nice omelete-type breakfast and then headed out the door.  We stopped at His theatre office to set up a new fax phone first.  The space is really coming together nicely.  After that we headed over to a favourite artist's house (http://www.gadzala.com/index2.html) (we have the piece titled Passing on the Street).  Himself found another piece that He likes, although it's not really in the budget for the moment.  But we still had a nice visit and cup of tea with her, and will hopefully be able to make her opening next week.

From there Himself took me to Loomis and Toles so that i could get some art supplies.  i am now the dubious owner of such illustrious tools as a blending stump and graphite and a small sandpaper thingy, plus another small table top easel.  All i have to do now is figure it all out :-)  i did do another daily sketch when we got back home (which i've just now realized i labeled January 3 instead of 4.)

Quick trip to the wine store and the grocery store and back home we came.  my feet were getting cold by this point!  We spent a few hours just relaxing - i drew the sketch, and He rested - and then it was time to have dinner.

What a dinner!  i like food, i really like His cooking, but most of the time i only eat small amounts and am a tad indifferent to eating in general.  And never very vocal about it.  But last night i couldn't stop making little *mmmm* noises as i ate!  He'd made one of my favourite soups - wild mushrooms in a clear broth, with a jumbo sized shrimp lurking at the bottom of the bowl.  This time He added two of the shrimp and left the tails on, which was a good thing as my fingers got heavily involved with this soup.  He also rested a single Belgian endive leaf against the side of the bowl (in the broth) with a single spring onion stem nestled within.  Decadent.

Then we got to the main course.  Lamb loins in a homemade marinade, with lemon rice.  Served with a 1996 Margaux.  my taste buds went straight to heaven.  And during all this indulgence He had me wear the day cuffs.  Perfect.  It's amazing how well i've learned to navigate with only 12 inches of chain between my wrists to play with.  :-)

A few last minute checks of email and visiting a few online friends, and we were off to bed - the food and wine had me asleep in seconds.  AND i slept the whole night through.

i'm already making plans for next week :-)
