The
neighbours are gone!!!
Gone, gone, gone, gone, gone.
Really GONE!
Okay, so i'm feeling really evil now. But lawdy, has
it been quiet around here!
It's almost ... spooky. We come home to
silence. We go to bed to the sounds of
silence. We don't wake up in the middle of the night
to baby's crying, nor grandpa's snoring. No music
blasting, no heavy footsteps stomping about. No
bbq'd sardines, no loud arguments.
AND NO DOG IS BARKING.
Whew. Obviously i'm more than a bit pleased about
all this. The new neighbour hasn't officially moved
in yet, and rumour has it she'll be gutting the kitchen
and starting over. So that will generate a bit of
noise, but that type of noise is tolerable - especially
when you know its going to end.
One of the first things she did do, which has endeared me
to her already (even if she IS young, cute, skinny and
single) was to tear down the blue tarp and the sorry
excuse for wood fencing that divides our backyards.
One eye-sore all gone! And even though i'm sure she
did it only because it was butt ugly, it still felt like a
very neighbourly thing to do. Almost
welcoming. When we got home yesterday, it looked
like some more outdoor yard clean up had been done.
Tres cool.
i spent the day yesterday hanging out with G (of G&M -
see Cast). It was a perfect "girl" day
:-) Himself had a retreat to attend, so i took
advantage of catching a ride and catching up with
her. Perfect. We spent the day buzzing around
stores while her daughter got her hair done, being happy
little shoppers. And talking talking talking.
And then ...
She convinced me that my fears were unfounded - that i
should indeed "go for it" and soooooooooooo
i cut my hair *gasp*
really, really short *gasp gasp gasp*
And Himself isn't sure how He feels about it.
:-( He hasn't said He hates it - just said He's not
sure about it yet ... but it's gone now. And
besides, He's the one who said go for it awhile
back. Okay so it was a long while ago.
G bounced around me saying she loved it! And
everyone knows girl power means a lot in the land of the
perfect haircut - and i know her well enough to have
confidence that she would tell me the absolute
truth. And even her resident teenager gave it a
thumbs up. That's saying something for sure!
So. i just have to get used to it and figure out how
to handle it. But man, is my neck ever
cold!
